Beauty & Brains Breakfast Smoothie

Writer: Monique ReyMonique Rey

Omg do I loooove berries!! Berries contain brightly colored pigments called anthocyanins, and they have been associated with anti-inflammatory effects, which have proven to be a key component underlying the associated reduction in chronic disease risk.

How? the antioxidants in these berries significantly decrease the levels of free radicals (unstable molecules that cause damage to our cells and DNA) in the bloodstream! This how they are able to improve pain and inflammation.

I personally love my berries blended well in a smoothie. Try out my Berry "Brains and Beauty" Smoothie Recipe below for an easy way to eat more of these antioxidant powerhouses!

Brains & Beauty Berry Smoothie

Ingredients

  1. 3 Cups of Frozen Berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, blackberries, acai)

  2. 1 Tbsp of almond butter or Ground Flaxseed

  3. 1 whole unripe banana

  4. 1 handful of spinach

  5. 1 scoop of Collagen (I like Great Lakes and Vital Proteins)

  6. 1 scoop of Plant Based Protein or Grass Fed Protein(My faves are Be Well By Kelly and Truvani)

  7. 4 cups of water

*If you use the Be Well By Kelly Protein, you wont need the collagen powder as it is rich in collagen and amino acids!

Instructions

Add all ingredients to the blender in the order that is listed so that powders are loosened and dissolved by the water.

Blend well starting on medium and then increase speed to high.

Make sure all powders are mixed in well and none are sticking to the side! Gotta get all of those great nutrients.

Servings size: 3-4 Cups
